Dirt under the tires.

XKIDS MTB trains kids roughly 6–12 on real trails — balance, control, line choice, the full mountain bike skill set. Age-appropriate difficulty. Outside whenever possible.

The crew

The XKIDS trail crew

  • Mountain biking is its own skill, not a smaller version of road riding.
  • Kids learn to balance under load, read the terrain, pick a line and commit to it, and get back on when a move goes wrong.
  • The trail crew teaches all of it, in the right order, on trails that match the rider's level.

Outside first

We ride outside as much as Ontario weather allows. Indoor sessions cover winter and skill drills.

Progressive trails

Green flow → blue technical → black features. Riders move up when control is there, not before.

Ride together

Group rides, not just training. Kids learn from older riders, pace each other, finish together.

Safety + gear

The right gear is the first skill. Everyone rides with all of this.

  • Full-face or half-shell helmet

Full-face for features, half-shell for flow — both are fine.

  • Gloves

    Full-finger, every ride.

  • Knee pads

    Required on blue and up.

  • Eyewear

Clear lenses or glasses for trail debris.

  • Hardtail or full-suspension MTB

26", 27.5", or 29" depending on size. Loaners available at first session.

  • Hydration + snacks

Rides can run 1–3 hours outside.

Skill levels

Four progressions — ride at the level that matches your child today.

  1. 01

    Trail Basics

  2. 02

    Flow

Cornering, pumping, rolling features. Blue flow trails.

  3. 03

    Features

Drops, small jumps, rock gardens, root sections. Confident on blue / mid-black.

  4. 04

    All-Mountain

Long rides, technical climbs, committed descents. Black-rated terrain.

Camps + group rides

Regular programs and seasonal intensives.

  • Weekly crew ride

Saturday mornings, spring through fall. Mixed levels, split into groups.

  • Summer MTB camp

Five-day camp. Skills in the morning, trail ride in the afternoon.

  • Weekend clinics

One-day focused clinics — cornering, drops, climbing, line choice.
